Over the past year, I have been allowing my sense of what is "reality" to be shifted and shifted and challenged. As our world is continually shifting into a new and vastly different energy every day, I aim to be welcoming of that new.
It can be a challenge to welcome anything new when we feel as though we have barely processed the past. Oddly enough though, processing the past, is not always as important as remaining in the now moment. And all of this can feel really ungrounded and uncentering if we are anxious about the future.
Time is a really funny thing and as far as I can see and relate to it, it is very much a complete illusion; because everything is always in the now. Right now, as you read this, I am writing this....or so it is hard for our minds to comprehend this as all our lives we are taught a full package of brainwashing about what is and is not real.
I am going to side step a moment and talk about God and religion. Try to stay with me.
I was raised in the church (Christian) and schooled in private religious school for some of my years. When I was eighteen I went to Bible college. In my early twenties, I worked at a Christian conference center (more church stuff). I saw a lot of church stuff and I got to see what religion was all about. In my late twenties, I decided to reread the Bible as an adult (outside of influence of a college professor or church) and spent a lot of time really looking at what Jesus has to say. Jesus, does not and will not ever have anything to do with religion.
If you look at what Jesus kept saying to everyone including church leaders of his day and even his disciples; he was saying over and over, religion is not what I am doing. Coming together to form rules and structures and ways of performing, is not where it's at. Jesus, specifically said this through his actions; I am a living model.
So then, if you look at his model, it was all about living in deep connection to your own individual center and obviously then also, your personal connection to the Divine (as he often would say, the Father).
I do not believe Jesus ever called us to participate in religion or religious traditions, if anything, he showed us how to live outside of that and still "hit the mark". (To miss the mark is the literal definition of the word sin - it's an archery term, that churches love to use so frequently for people not following their rules and agendas.)
I work with a lot of mothers who share with me the health struggles they are working through and what is going on for them in their bodies and I love helping people that are truly interested in doing the work, moving the needle, allowing their interpretations of reality to be shattered and renewed by what really is living in the now. Because so much of what keeps us unwell or struggling, simply is a story that we are running in the background. A connection to the brainwashing narrative if you will.
Now, I need to side step one more time and share about one of the reasons I did not pursue a traditional path to serving ones wellness needs. One of my all time detests of modern medicine is the amount of doctors that will write you off, write a prescription and just generally lack care about your bodily experience. This angers me! This is a form of abuse. When the place you are supposed to take your hurts and ailments to just shuts you down, tell you what you feel is imagined and send you on your way, you can feel really beat down. As women, this is more likely to happen than to men; but I have also witnessed this happening to many a man. It's an extra level of hell to deal with this abuse if you are grappling with real health concerns that are affecting your every day experience of an enjoyable life and doctor after doctor tells you it's not real.
I realize that just because I chose that path does not mean that I would have to practice that way...but it would feel out of alignment to myself to even be associated with that. I also realize there are many doctors who truly do care and patiently work through their patients needs compassionately.
People being left without answers over and over and ignored when they are hurting, angers me.
Sort of like how religion angers me. Both are entirely built on a pile of lies twisted so deep that you can't hardly see your way through.
The model of health our entire culture ascribes to or rather has been brainwashed into believing is largely untrue. It was paid for by people seeking to control the minds and wellbeing of the populous. I know this is sketchy territory. I don't need you to believe me; facts are facts regardless of whether or not people believe them.
As I started this blog share, I shared about how I have been learning to embrace a new relationship with "reality" and welcome the new energy that is here to open our eyes to a whole new way.
Jesus came to show us a whole new way and 2,000 + years later people are still out here looking for it. Jesus said live in integrity to your body, heart, mind and soul. Stay connected to what is living in the present moment. Remain centered in the truth that you are one with the Divine. Know each human is also one with the Divine.
So, how does this have anything to do with health and women's bodies and wellness. Well, it has a lot to do with actually and here is how. Most of the women that come to me tell me they thought they should do this, but did something else. Or they wanted to try this, but doubted and second guessed themselves and talked themselves into whatever someone else in their world had to say about the situation....etc. All of that, is living outside of integrity with their body, heart, mind and soul. When we orientate our lives to being deeply authentic and in-tegrity with our own bodily experience is when we actually move the needle with our health. Whether that is to get stronger at the gym or to know a life outside of intense chronic fatigue syndrome. We have to first be real with and fully acknowledge our situation to then find a plan of action and that plan of action is as unique to each woman as the woman themselves are.
It can feel like such a challenge to actually listen to your body, heart, mind and soul if you have spent 30-50 years being trained to literally ignore that. How funny to think we are trained out of exactly what we need to thrive. Did I mention brainwashing?
I love expanding into new territory like this. It does not mean it is easy, but it is freeing. I tend to lean into the new and then take a H O T minute (maybe season/year) to adjust. Like I said we all have stories and I also have stories that I get to rewrite, unwind and reweave.
One of the biggest areas I find women struggle with is listening to their body and hunger ques. We are taught to not eat a lot as women, it's wrong to consume calories and nourish your body. But, when women are navigating any health issue, one of the first questions I ask is: How much of the basic building blocks of all life aka protein, are you getting into your system each day?. Why protein, because it nourishes all life. LITERALLY. Every brain function, every new skin cell, every movement, every fire of the nerves; every single part of your body depends on protein and if you want to thrive, you need it. How much do you need depends on your body weight and your lifestyle. But a good rule of thumb is one ounce of protein per pound of body weight. If you are nursing that number doubles to two ounces per pound of body weight.
Doing hard things, like getting adequate protein in your diet is actually what living in your truth looks like. To get real with what your biology needs and acting upon that reality. Because that is reality. Striving for weighing a number lower on the scale and lowering your caloric intake as the way to get there, that is false; brainwashed narratives.
Funnily enough, April is astrologically the best month to do this rewriting, reweaving and leaving behind of those old narratives that are literally tying us to something that is false, distorted and simply untrue. This April all the planets line up to aid your rewriting story and how amazing is that thought.
So, if you feel apt to join the adventure and you are a female looking to thrive in your body consider joining a personal challenge to get one hundred or more grams of protein (depending on your body weight) each day through the month of April; just as a challenge to see if it makes a difference for your body and how it feels moving through life.
Listen to your body and see what it needs. Maybe you need something else in your journey with reality and remaining true and in-tegrity with yourself as you embrace new energies into your life.
New energies, like living in design with what your biological needs or what your heart needs or maybe it's what your soul needs...only you know the answer to this and it is unique to you in your life right now.
Personally, I'm working on a lot. Reestablishing my protein intake to an adequate number is also on my list (sometimes I stop aiming and miss the mark). Other things on my list, taking all the time I need as I integrate into this season of Spring.
I would love to hear below, what new, you are integrating into your life. Feel free to share in the comments or email and if you would like to go deeper, about your health journey and needs in a more intimate and individualized container or check out my one to one work offering.
But whatever part of your path you are on, I hope you are navigating it with grace. Because there is grace for every stage. We will miss the mark. We will falter. We will get lost in the forest. But we can also come back home to ourselves when we decide to. As long as you have breath, you have you. Hope is never lost.
This too can be part of rewiring our understanding of reality.
But alas, I say; Welcome to the NEW! We get to rewrite it all. Who's coming with me?
